A Family-Founded Legacy
Founded by the Dawson family in 2021, Sturgis Hornets began with just two age groups and approximately 30 children. What started as a dream to provide quality youth sports in Philadelphia has grown into something far greater.
Today, we proudly serve nine football age groups (ages 4-13, including flag and tackle) and a thriving cheerleading program for ages 5-12. Our growth reflects our commitment to every young athlete who walks through our doors.

Our Mission
Sturgis Youth Sports is a community-based nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering youth through sports, mentorship, and structured programming that promotes safety, leadership, and positive life outcomes. We use athletics as a tool to prevent youth violence, strengthen community relationships, and provide safe, supportive environments where young people can develop discipline, confidence, and social responsibility.
Our Vision
To be a model youth sports organization in Philadelphia and beyond. We aim to expand our offerings to include basketball and track, providing even more opportunities for young people to discover their potential through athletics.
